The Sliders Softball team has a history as long as the Willeton Men\u2019s Softball Association and the basis of this long association to the Sliders team has been the Good Times, Laughter and downright Fun washed out with an \u201cOLD\u201d and all seriousness left on the diamond with the tears of effort and trying.<\/p>\n

From the first game under coach Bobby Boyd the team history is stained with many player stories both good and better.<\/p>\n

In the game the Sliders coach Bob Boyd, better known as \u201cTwo Bob Bob\u201d because he wore the number two with his name underneath on his playing shirt, came up to bat with Rosco Limpus pitching.
\nBob let the first ball go through which went straight over the plate to be call for STRIKE 1.
\nBearing in mind it was raining heavily, Bob then gave Rosco a bet that he couldn\u2019t get another strike.
\nBob had no intention of swinging at the ball. Rosco duly obliged and Bob was now on STRIKE 2.
\nBeing a punter, Bob again challenged Rosco that he couldn\u2019t get another strike.
\nAgain Bob didn\u2019t swing and Rosco once again pitched over the plate.
\nBob trudged back to his team tent and gave a speech to the effect, \u201cNow I want you guys to get out there and hit the ball not like me!\u201d
\nThe Arrks went onto a convincing 19 to 10 victory but \u201cTwo Bob Bob\u201d had left his legacy for all time.<\/p>\n

You can’t go past the Councillor
\nThe Councillor was known for 2 things:
\nHow much dribble came out of his mouth, and how he left the club!
\nCouncillor had a view on everything and let everybody know about it. Even if you were talking to someone else or looking the other way, Councillor would drop in and give you his opinion.
\nCouncillor got his nickname because he one ran for a councillor’s position at his local shire – or so the story goes!
\nI reckon, if he actually did run for the job, by the time the local elections came around, all the voting slips had already been flushed down the toilet along with the stuff that came out Councillor’s mouth.
\nAll was not good in the Councillor’s mind that fateful day.
\nThe Councillor was also the Slider’s pitcher and the results weren’t good – must have been reflecting on Election Day!
\nAnyhow the Sliders lost and the team did the usual post game analysis over a few Tooheys Old in the club rooms. But the Councillor was nowhere to be found. To this day we don’t know what happened to him, or how he got home.
\nAll we know is there was a neat pile of his Sliders uniform in the middle of park, along with a hand scratched note “I Quit”.
\nNow how did he get home without that uniform on?<\/p>\n
